Swann, Albert R. (Bert) (24 November 1885 - 28 July 1953)

Albert R. (Bert) Swann, 67, Grant Township, died at his farm home, July 28, 1953, at 5:30 p.m.

Funeral services were held August 1 from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating and burial in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Swann was born November 24, 1885 in the Town of Grant to William R. and Frances (Waterman) Swann, and was a lifelong resident of Clark County with the exception of 10 years in Chicago.  He was married on November 22, 1954*, to Minnie Sack in Shortville at the Sack home.  Two daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Swann.  *(This has to be an error perhaps it is 1914.)

Bert, as he was known to his many friends, was born on the same farm he had owned since 1918 and where he died.  He received his education in the town of Grant schools and did farm work most of his life.  His father purchased the farm from a man, by the name of Cuttler who had homesteaded the farm prior to 1876.  Bert’s father purchased the farm when he was 19 years old and operated it until 1918, when Bert took over.  There have been only three owners of the farm since 1876.

Mr. and Mrs. Swann spent 10 years, (1926-1936) in Chicago.

Mr. Swann was on the school board for 13 years, 12 as treasurer.  He was a member of the Equitable Reserve Association for the last 30 years.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie, and two daughters, Nellie, Mrs. Archie Yankee of Neenah, and Genevieve, Mrs. Reuben Hantke of Neillsville; also two granddaughters, Mrs. William Novotny (Nadine) of Oshkosh, and Pauline Hantke of Neillsville; two brothers, Ernest E. Swann, Cedar Rapids, Ia., and George W. Swan, Crandon, Wis.
