Truse, Helen (15 JUN 1954)

Miss Helen Truse, daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Truse, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Alvin Benzschawel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Benzschawel, also of Thorp, were married June 15, 1954, at 9:30 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp.

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, John Osawski.  The Rev. Herbert Zoromski performed the ceremony before a beautifully decorated altar of artificial flowers and palms.

The bridal gown was of Chantilly lace and tulle over satin, fashioned with fitted bodice and stand up Elizabethan collar and the yoke outlined in seed pearls.  The full gathered skirt was of tulle, with panel of lace down the front to the hemline, and panel down the back extending to the full train.  The silk illusion veil, had rolled, was attached to a tiara of seed pearls.  She carried a cascade bouquet of Pinocchio roses and white gladiolas.

She chose as her maid of honor her cousin, Estelle Wargolet.  Her pink gown was of nylon net and yarn dyed taffeta fashioned with strapless bodice with taffeta jacket having a Mandarin collar.  The full skirt of nylon net was in three bouffant tiers.  She wore a matching tiara of sequins and brilliants.

The groom’s two sisters, Mary Ann and Barbara Benzschawel were dressed in aqua gowns, made identical.  As maids of honor they carried nosegay bouquets consisting of yellow gladiolas and pink elf roses.

The bride place a beautiful bouquet of Easter lilies and white gladiolas on the Blessed Virgin’s altar before the Mass.

Larry Spaeth, a friend of the groom, was best man, and Norbert Micke, cousin of the groom, was groomsman.  Ushers were Norbert Osawski, uncle of the bride, and Wilbur Benzschawel, brother of the groom.

The bride’s mother wore navy blue and the groom’s mother was in beige.  Their corsages were red roses and white carnations.

A dinner was served at St. Hedwig’s Hall to 125 guests, followed by a reception at 2:00 o’clock.

After a wedding trip to Stevens Point and Milwaukee the young couple will live on a farm where the groom is employed by his father.
