Marvin, Beth  (29 JULY 1914-24 OCT 2009)

 

Beth H. Marvin, 95, Loyal, died on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at the House of the Dove, Marshfield. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Loyal United Methodist Church, from 9:30 a.m., until the time of services at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Mike Herdt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Loyal Cemetery.

 

Beth Hannah Pratt was born on July 29, 1914, in Emerald, St. Croix County, to Levi Albert and Minnie Amelia (nee Procknow) Pratt. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in New Richmond. She married Harold Leland Cook on Dec. 24, 1930, in Stillwater, Minn. They resided in Menomonie, until moving to Loyal in 1943. They farmed in Loyal until retiring in 1966. Her husband died on Sept. 18, 1966. After her husband’s death, she lived in Loyal and worked at Midland Co-op for 12 years. She married Harry James Marvin on June 6, 1970, in Loyal. He died on Feb. 16, 1998. She continued to live in Loyal until entering the House of the Dove on April 15, 2009.

 

She was a member of the Loyal United Methodist Church and a member of the Royal Neighbors since 1944. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family, reading, crocheting, fishing and playing cards.

 

She will be dearly missed by four sons, Roy (Darlene) Cook, Marshfield, Larry (Alice) Cook, Loyal, Lee (Carol) Cook, Lyndon Station, and Dennis (Ruth) Cook, Loyal; a daughter-in-law, Janet Cook, Marshfield; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Alice Pratt, Hammond; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husbands, Harold and Harry; a daughter, Fern Betty Allen, on July 13, 1981; a son, Gene Francis Cook on Sept. 8, 2007; two granddaughters, Brenda Lee Cook and Karen Kay Cook; one grandson, Dan Switlick; three brothers, Earl Pratt, Leon Pratt and Warren Pratt in infancy; and two sisters, Eva Schwartz and Dorothy Omen.
