Anderson, Doris  (24 APR 1946)

The Holy Family Catholic church at Willard was the scene of the wedding ceremony at which Miss Doris Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Del Anderson of Loyal, became the bride of John L. Rakovec, son of Mrs. Antonia Rakovec of Greenwood. The Rev. Raphael Stragisher read the nuptial service at 9:30 a.m. on Apr. 24, Mrs. Ivan Ruzic was organist, and Mr. and Mrs. Ruzic sang a duet.

The bride wore a white wedding gown, designed of parachute nylon sent home by the bridegroom while serving with the armed forces overseas in Italy. A seed pearl headdress held her fingertip veil of illusion, and she carried an all-white bouquet composed of Lilies and roses. Her gold locket was a gift from the groom.

Miss Anna Volovsek of Willard, in a yellow taffeta-and-net frock, styled with a snug bodice and full skirt, was maid of honor. Miss Edna Schlafka of Marshfield, in a pink dress was bridesmaid. Both carried arm bouquets of gladiolas.

Cyril Rakovec, a brother of the groom and Arnold Anderson, a brother of the bride, attended the bridegroom.

Following the wedding service, breakfast and dinner were served to the bridal party at the Rakovec home. During the afternoon, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, which was decorated with pink, yellow and white streamers. A wedding cake centered the table. That evening a wedding dance was given at Longwood.

Mrs. Rakovec was graduated from the Loyal high school in 1934 and is employed by the Dairy Belt Cheese and butter Co. at Spencer.

Mr. Rakovec served with the armed forces for 40 months, 35 of which he spent overseas in Africa, Italy, the Phillipines and Japan. He was given his discharge on Nov. 29, 1945, and now operates the former Albert Castner farm, two miles southwest of Loyal, which he has purchased.

Guests attending the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Joe Rakovec of Marshfield, Mr. and mrs. Frank Piekola and family of Neillsville, Mrs. Antonia Rakovec and Frank Rakovec of Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Del Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hubong and family

The Loyal Tribune joins their many friends in wishing them a long and happy journey through life.
