Proft, Isabelle (Marriage - 7 May 1955)

Miss Isabelle Proft, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Proft, Route 2, Athens, became the bride of Chester Jacobi, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jacobi, Saturday. The Rev. F. H. Sprengler read the service at 2:00 o’clock at  Christ Lutheran church.

Soloist during the ceremony was Miss Janice Zier, who sang "Oh Perfect Love" and "The Lord Is My Shepherd." Miss Shirley Sprengler accompanied her.

Nylon lace and netting combined to fashion the waltz length gown donned by the bride for the ceremony. A short sleeved lace bolero topped by a mandarin collar was worn with the bridal gown. Completing her ensemble were a pearl studded finger tip veil and a cascade arrangement of pink roses, and white carnations interspersed with white stephanotis.

Rhinestones and pearls decorated the bodices of the crystalette frocks worn by the bridal aides - Miss Millie Proft, Wilmette, Ill., as maid of honor, and Mrs. Russell Madson, West Allis, bridesmaid. Both are sisters of the bride. The former carried a bouquet of pink roses and white carnations to complement her blue gown while Mrs. Madson carried yellow roses and white carnations with her pink formal.

Attendants for the groom included Ervin Jacobi, Abbotsford, a brother of the groom, as best man, and Russell Madson as groomsman. Arlyn Utke, a nephew of the groom, and Jerry Vrana, Abbotsford, were ushers.

The mother of the bride wore a navy blue print while the groom’s mother wore navy. Their accessories were in navy and white and their corsages were made of pink roses and white carnations.

Following the ceremony a dinner was served in the Johnson town hall and in the evening a wedding dance was held at Dorchester. The newlyweds left on a tour of the Black Hills in South Dakota and on their return they will take up residence on Route 1, Abbotsford, where the groom is engaged in farming. Both are graduates of high schools in Abbotsford and Athens.

Coming from out of town for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Madson and family, West Allis; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Proft and family, Skokie, Ill.; Mrs. Paul Severson, Miss Millie Proft and Herman Proft, Wilmette, Ill.; Mrs. Leigh Ouimette, California; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Jacobi and son, Lloyd, Mrs. Charlotte Jester, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Koenig, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jacobi, Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. George Boneske, Sturgeon Bay; Miss Darlene Daske, Park Falls; and Mrs. Ida Wirth, Cleveland.
