Voigt, Joann Theresa (Marriage - 17 July 1954)

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kieser will be returning from their honeymoon the end of the week and will reside in the upstairs apartment in the M. C. Thompson house on Fourth street.

Miss Joann Theresa Voigt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Voigt of Wauwatosa and Donald Edward Kieser, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Kieser of Abbotsford exchanged marriage vows Saturday, July 17, in the Nativity Lutheran church, Wauwatosa. The Rev. Gerberding read the double ring service, at 3:00 o’clock.

During the ceremony, Miss Ila Fralick sang "The Lord’s Prayer," and "O Day of Golden Promise."

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a floor length gown of lace over satin designed with long pointed sleeves. Tiny flowers detailed the skirt and outlined the scoop neckline. A cap of seed pearls and pleated nylon held her finger tip veil. She carried a bouquet of white carnations centered with a white orchid.

Attending her as matron of honor was her twin sister, Mrs. Burton Erenz, of Milwaukee. Miss Corrine Knight, Abbotsford, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid. Their floor length frocks were made alike of silk organza, with matching pleated half hats with veils. Orchid was chosen for the matron of honor and pale green for the other attendants. They wore white gloves and carried waterfall bouquets of white carnations. Both wore double strand pearl necklaces.

Miss Donna Mueckler, cousin of the bride, wearing a dress identical to the bridesmaid’s, was flower girl. She carried a nosegay bouquet of white carnations.

Frederick Kieser, Abbotsford, was his brother’s best man, and Burton Erenz was usher.

For the ceremony, the bride’s mother wore a blue lace dress with blue and white accessories. The corsage was made of white carnations and pink roses.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church parlors and later at the home of the bride’s parents, attended by 150 guests.

Attending from Abbotsford were G. G. Kieser, the Misses Dorothy, Marilyn and Carol Kieser, Dennis Kieser, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Knight, Gordon Knight, and Mrs. Lorraine Manthe.

For her going away ensemble, the new Mrs. Kieser wore a gray linen dress and the orchid corsage that centered the bridal bouquet.

Before her marriage, the bride taught for two years at Little Grove school, Waukesha county. The groom is employed in Abbotsford at Danielson Dry Cleaners.
