THORP -- Josephine Gabrys, 86, of Thorp died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. 
 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Burial will follow in New St. Hedwig's Catholic Cemetery. 
 

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Thorp Funeral Home, with a 6 p.m. rosary. Visitation also will be held Friday at the church, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. 
 

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Josephine Olejniczak was born March 7, 1923, in Thorp, to Andrew and Anna (Luebrandt) Olejniczak. After completing her education, Josephine moved to Chicago to work. She was united in marriage to Alex Gabrys on June 27, 1948, in Chicago. Alex and Josephine moved to Gilman in 1951 and farmed until retirement. They moved to Thorp in the 1990s. 
 

Josephine is survived by her four children, Margie Gabrys of Eau Claire, Leonard Gabrys of Balko, Okla., Bob (Marcie) Gabrys of Gilman and Bruce (Theresa) Gabrys of Eagle River, Alaska; five grandchildren one great-grandchild. 
 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex, on Aug. 4, 2006. 
 

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
