Wiltjer, Marian (Marriage - 10 Oct. 1955)

Attended by their brothers-in-law and sisters, Marian Wiltjer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wiltjer, Route 1, Abbotsford, and Floyd J. Van Dreel, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Van Dreel of Route 1, Colby, pronounced the wedding vows Monday. The Rev. Raymond Schultz performed the double ring ceremony which took place at St. Bernard’s rectory, Abbotsford, at 1:30 o’clock.

As matron of honor, the bride named her husband’s sister, Mrs. Donna Waldhart, whose husband, William, served as best man. The couple are residents of Appleton.

Mr. and Mrs. James H. Rachau, of Highland, Indiana, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy L. Nagel, Colby, brothers-in-law and sisters of the bride, were the groomsmen and bridesmaids, and the Nagel’s daughter, Janice Sue, served as flower girl, while the Rachau’s son, James Henry, Jr., was ring bearer.

The bride’s dress was of satin styled with long sleeves, and a snug-fitted bodice closed down the back with self-covered buttons. Tiers of lace descended down the skirt front, and a lace ruffle edged the net yoke. Her veil, edged with lace, was attached to a heart shaped headdress embroidered with seed pearls.

In her bouquet, the bride carried white pompons and pink roses, surrounding two white orchids and sprays of ferns.

The flower girl’s dress was a replica of the bride’s and her flowers were white pompons and red roses.

Mrs. Waldhart’s dress was of blue lace and net over satin, with a lace jacket over the strapless bodice. The same type of gown was worn by each of the bridesmaids. Pink and blue feather carnations were worn by all three, and they carried colonial arrangements of white and pink carnations. Blue ribbons tied the matron of honor’s bouquet and those of the bridesmaids were tied with pink.

A navy blue dress, with accessory accents in red, was worn by the bride’s mother. The bridegroom’s mother was dressed in brown tweed, and wore brown and red accessories. Both had corsages of white carnations.

Following the wedding, the reception was held at Cherokee Hall, and supper was served at the Reform Parish hall.

Mr. and Mrs. Van Dreel greeted their friends at a wedding dance at Kolby Park in the evening.

Later, Mr. and Mrs. Van Dreel left for a wedding trip to Illinois and Indiana, and will return to make their home at Colby, where the bridegroom is engaged in farming. The bride is employed at Brodhagen’s Northland Henneries.

The wedding was attended by guests from Crete and Lansing, Ill., Highland, Indiana; Milwaukee, Appleton, Wisconsin Rapids, Little Chute, Horicon, Stratford, Milan, Athens, Colby, Curtiss, Marshfield and Abbotsford.
