Vanderhoof, Dorothy  (21 JUNE 1921-09 SEPT. 2009)

 

Dorothy E. Vanderhoof, 88, Spencer, died on Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer, from 9:30 a.m., until time of services at 11 a.m. The Rev. Karl Rose will officiate. Burial will be in the West Spencer Cemetery.

 

Dorothy Emily Oelrich was born on June 21, 1921, in Spencer, to William and Sophia (nee Huber) Oelrich. She graduated from Spencer High School and married Dale Vanderhoof on Oct. 15, 1939. She farmed with her husband in Spencer, and worked at the Gamble Store in Spencer for 20 years.

 

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aide. She enjoyed fishing and going to garage sales with her husband. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles and crafts, especially making Christmas ornaments for the family as presents. Her true joy in life were her two cats, Chelsea and Boots.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Ellen (Dennis) Woodkey, Spencer; son, Dale Vandrho0f Jr., Marshfield; son-in law, Carl Boyles, Withee eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four great-grand children; sister, Delores (Kenneth) Wilson, Spencer; sister-in-law, Ruby Johnson, Colby, and many other family members.

 

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Dale, on June 13, 1988; her daughter, Joan Boyles; and her parents.
