Gubeli, Martina (22 MAY 1954)

Miss Martina Mae Gubeli, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Milton Leonard Berg, Northfield, Minn., exchanged their marriage vows in a double ring ceremony at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church, Junction, near Stanley, on Saturday, May 22, 1954, at 4:00 p.m.  The church was decorated with roses and hydrangeas for the ceremony, performed by Rev. Ernest Kaim in the presence of friends and relatives.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gubeli, Sr., was given in marriage by her father.  Her gown was fashioned with a rose point lace bodice and long pointed sleeves, the floor length skirt of satin having an overskirt of nylon net with lace edging.  Her veil of French illusion was held by a cap of rose point lace trimmed with seed pearl orange blossoms.

Barbara Gubeli was the maid of honor, wearing a gown fashioned with a blue lace bodice and lace jacket.  The skirt was of nylon net over satin with a lace panel down the front.  Mrs. Clif Berg of Hopkins, Minn., was the bridesmaid, wearing a gown styled identically to that worn by the maid of honor, but in pink.  The junior bridesmaid was Mildred Gubeli, her gown being styled with a yellow lace bodice and jacket and the skirt fashioned with tiers of net over satin.  They wore matching flower headbands and carried identical colonial bouquets of carnations.

Francis Winters, Northfield, served as best man and Cliff Berg of Hopkins was the groomsman.  The ushers were Oswald Berg, Northfield, and Joseph Gubeli, Jr., Thorp.

Music for the service was played by Mrs. Theodore Symbal at the organ.

Mrs. Gubeli chose a navy blue dress with white accessories for her daughter’s wedding.  Mrs. Berg wore a gray and navy blue dress with white accessories.  Their corsages were of roses and carnations.  The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Joseph Pearson, St. Paul, wore a gray dress with black and gray accessories and a carnation corsage.

A reception followed the marriage ceremony at the church hall, with a 6:30 supper.  The hall was decorated with blue, white and yellow streamers and white wedding bells.  Music for dancing was furnished by "The Nightingales."

The bride attended the Thorp schools and has been employed as a typist and bookkeeper.  The groom graduated from the Zumbrota, Minn. High School and the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis.  He is employed as a shop foreman and parts manager.  The couple left on a honeymoon through northern Wisconsin on May 25 and will be at home in Northfield on June 1.

Friends and relatives attended the wedding from Rochester, Winona, Zumbrota, Wanamingo, Webster, Northfield, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Tracy and Wadena, Minn., and from Thorp, Stanley, Owen, Withee.
