Jewett, June M. #2 (15 AUG 1953)

 

Miss June Marie Jewett, daughter of Mrs. Otto Braun of Colby and Clyde Jewett of Julesburg, Colo., and allan Niemi of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony Saturday, Aug. 15, 1953, at the First Evangelical and Reformed Church in Colby, Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch reading the marriage ceremony.  Miss Annabelle Klaar sang "Always" and "The Lord’s Prayer."  The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Harold.

 

Mrs. William Serdar of Waukegan, Ill., was matron of honor and Miss Janet Olson of Chippewa Falls served as bridesmaid.  The groom was attended by his brother, Edwin Niemi of Elgin, Ill., as best man, and William Serdar of Waukegan, Ill.  Emil Untiedt of Colby and Leonard Buchanan of Withee ushered.

 

For the occasion eh bride chose a waltz length gown of tulle over satin with rose point lace having a scroll effect on the skirt and long pointed sleeves.  An imported illusion net fingertip veil fell from a lace trimmed shell further enhanced with seed pearls.  Her bouquet included a white orchid, red roses, Stephanotis and rosebuds fastened with satin streamers.

 

The matron of honor wore a ballerina length gown of nylon net over taffeta, cap sleeves, and a net jacket.  Her bouquet consisted of yellow roses, white mums and stephanotis.  The bridesmaid wore an orchid dress styled similar to that of the matron of honor and her bouquet was like that of the matron of honor.  The bride’s mother wore a tan dress with black accessories, with a corsage of white gladioli and yellow carnations.  The groom’s mother wore a navy blue dress with black accessories with a corsage of white gladioli and yellow carnations.

 

A wedding reception was held at the home of the bride.  Guests were from Withee, Owen, Abbotsford, Dorchester, Unity, Marshfield, Ladysmith, Milwaukee, Chicago, Ill., Calumet, Mich., Wakefield, Mich., and Colby.

 

The couple will make their home on a farm at Withee, route 2, were the groom is engaged in farming.
