Olsen, Sofie (17 NOV 1869 - 2 JUL 1953)

 

Mrs. Sofie Olsen, 83, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Otto A. Andersen of South Saint Paul on Thursday evening, July 2, 1953.  She has been making her home with them for the past three months.  She was born Nov. 17, 1869 in Sjaelland, Denmark, and was married to Lars J. Olsen on March 4, 1892.  She and her husband were among the pioneers in the Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) community, coming here 53 years ago, and they were early members of the Nazareth Lutheran Church.  Her husband preceded her in death last September.  Mrs. Olsen had been in ill health for two years and became seriously ill about six months ago.

 

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Peter Christophersen of Withee, and Mrs. Otto Andersen of South St. Paul, Minn., by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Nazareth Lutheran Church at Withee, with Pastor W. Clayton Nielsen in charge.  Interment was in Nazareth Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Christ Christophersen, Marius Rasmussen, Arnold Rasmussen, Chris Olsen, Jens Smith and Karl Jensen.  Those in charge of floral offerings were Mesdames Martin Paulsen, Chris Christophersen, Harold Christensen, Richard Nielsen and Jens Smith.
