Roohr, Fred (19 JUL 1881 - 24 APR 1953)

 

Fred E. Roohr passed away at 3 a.m., April 24th, 1953 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he was receiving treatment for a heart condition.  He was 71 years, 9 months and 5 days of age.

 

Funeral services were held at two o’clock Monday afternoon from a funeral home in Colby with Rev. School officiating.  Burial was made in the family lot at the cemetery in the Town of Beaver (Clark Co., Wis.).  Pallbearers were Adam Roohr, Melvin Roohr, Kenneth Roohr, Wayne Roohr, Paul Hein and Richard Witte.  In charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. Chester Rinehart, Mrs. Paul Hein, Mrs. Kenneth Roohr, Mrs. Melvin Roohr and daughter Ruby, Gaymond and Shirley Stasek, Darlene and Diane Burhop.

 

The deceased had been a resident of Clark County throughout his entire life, being born on July 19, 1881 in the Town of Beaver.  On Sept. 12, 1907 he and Clara H. Wisnosky were united in marriage in a ceremony performed at Unity.  They successfully pursued the vocation of farming until their retirement several years ago, at which time he moved from the farm near Unity to Colby where he had since made his home.

 

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Stasek and Mrs. Louis (Alyce) Burhop, Owen; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Stowe, Fairchild; Mrs. Margaret Summern, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Annie Ostach, Milwaukee and Mrs. Hazel Cummins, Ladysmith; two brothers, Jake of Pittsville and John, Owen, and seven grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

 

Attending the services from away were relatives and friends from Neenah, Pittsville, Sturgeon Bay, Unity, Riplinger, Owen and Colby.
