Geiger, Jeanette (Marriage - 19 Aug. 1953)

Miss Jeanette Geiger and Vernon Hanne exchanged marriage vows in St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Wednesday morning, Aug. 19. The double ring service was read by the Rev. Raymond Schulz, before the nuptial high mass at 9:00 o’clock.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Geiger, of Abbotsford, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hanne, of Colby.

For her wedding, the bride chose a gown of nylon tulle over satin. Alencon lace was used in the fitted bodice, designed with a mandarin collar and a wide lace panel extended down the front of the full skirt. Ruffled lace detailed the double tulle veil which was held by a tiara of seed pearls and rhinestones. She wore a rhinestone necklace and carried a bouquet of white gladioli and red roses.

Attending the bride, as maid of honor was Miss Virginia Schmitt, Colby, a friend of the bride. Her sister, Miss Doris Geiger, of Abbotsford, was the bridesmaid. They were dressed alike in strapless gowns made with a peplum and lace bolero. Green was worn by the maid of honor and yellow by the bridesmaid. Matching pleated tulle was worn in their hair and matching carnations centered the white gladioli used to form their bouquets.

Attending the groom as best man was Lawrence Kunze, a friend, and as groomsman was Dean Witte, a nephew, both of Colby.

Following the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents. Dinner for the immediate family was served at the Abbotsford armory club rooms, and supper was served at the Geiger home. About 150 guests attended. The young couple greeted their many friends at a wedding dance at Colby Park Pavilion in the evening.

Guests in attendance were from Colby, Marshfield, Wausau, Dorchester, Milwaukee, Menasha, Loyal, Spencer, Kaukauna, Appleton, and Riplinger.

Mr. and Mrs. Hanne left on a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and after Aug. 24, will be at home on North Fourth Street, across from the Medo-Farms Dairy Bar. The groom is employed at the Streckert Manufacturing Company.
