Karnopp, Phoebe A. (17 February 1918 - 4 August 2009)

 
 

Phoebe A. Karnopp, age 91, of Winifred, MT died early Tuesday morning at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center following a short illness.

 
 

She was born February 17, 1918, in Cameron, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Amanda (Johnson) Cain. She grew up and attended school in Riplinger, WI.  On August 5, 1936, she was united in marriage to Clarence Karnopp in Unity, WI at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Green Grove. They farmed for a number of years before moving to Thorp, WI in 1944.  Phoebe worked at the Blue Moon Foods and at Burkhart Printing for several years.

 
 

After Clarence’s death in 1974, Phoebe moved to Winifred, MT to be near her daughters. She was a member of the Winifred American Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.  She enjoyed reading, playing cards, word puzzles and spending time with her family.

 
 

She is survived by one son: Dennis (Rita) Karnopp of Helena, MT; two daughters: Donelda (Glenn) Wildung and Lynn (Arlie) Christensen, Jr., both of Winifred, MT; grandchildren: Karen Reinhart of Jackson, WY, Carlene (Harris) Davis of Havre, MT, Scott (Tracy Wildung of Stanford, MT, Diane Harper of Billings, MT, Tyana Finley of Queen Creek, AZ, Tara (Matt) Sather of Billings, MT, Tyler Christensen of Great Falls, MT, Jamie (Cory) Pierce and Christopher (Kristie) Karnopp, both of Great Falls, MT; great-grandchildren: Forrest Reinhart of Gardiner, MT, Mariah Henry of Jackson, WY, Levi Heller of Billings, MT, Ashley (Lance) Oaas of Missoula, MT, Seth & Luke Wildung, both of Havre, MT, Marcus, Tyson and Meghan Harper of Billings, MT, Josh and Jordan Karnopp of Great Falls, MT, Brock Cote, Ashton Cote, Tyler Bennett, and Rylan Finley of Queen Creek, AZ; one sister-in-law, Esther Pachal of Neillsville, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 
 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Amanda Cain; one sister, Signe Hebert of Loyal, WI; and two brothers: Carl Johnson of Iowa and Ulysses Cain of Loyal, WI.

 
 

Memorial services for Phoebe A. Karnopp were on Saturday, August 8, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the American Lutheran Church in Winifred.  Inurnment will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Withee, WI. 

 
 

Friends are asked to make memorials to the Winifred American Lutheran Church, Winifred Ambulance, or the charity of their choice and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.
