Gabrys, Katherine (March 15, 1914 - June 7, 2009) 
 

Katherine Gabrys of Dyer, Ind., passed away on June 7, 2009.  
 

She was born on March 15, 1914 in Sobieski, Wis., to the late Bartolemew and Anna (Kowalczyk) Gabrys.  
 

As a child she moved to Lublin where she resided until she moved to Chicago, Ill., where she was a longtime resident. Katherine moved to Kirksville, Mo., in later years and resided there for 10 years before moving to Dyer in 2007. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.

 
Katherine is survived by three siblings, Mary (Leo, deceased) Zaborowski of Gilman, Lottie (Jim, deceased) Rogers of Dyer, Ind., and Ann (Harold) Casper of Kirksville, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Josephine Gabrys of Thorp; 26 nieces and nephews; 52 great-nieces and nephews; 39 great-great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great-nephew.
 
 

She is preceded in death by her parents; six siblings, Lucille Gabrys, Rudolph, Wis., Regina (Peter) Szemraj, Edgar, Wis., Frank (Jean) Gabrys, McHenry, Ill., John (Anna Mae) Gabrys, Manhattan, Ill., Alex Gabrys, Thorp, and Stanley (Alice) Gabrys, Greendale, Wis.

 
A funeral mass was held Thursday, June 11, 2009 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Father John Long officiated. Burial was at the parish cemetery.

 
Plombon Funeral Home of Stanley assisted the family with arrangements.

 
In lieu of flowers, mass donations directed to the Catholic church in Lublin or Gilman, Wis., or in Dyer, Ind., are greatly appreciated.
