Lis, Donna Mae "Dolly" (30 May 1932 - 23 June 2009)

 

Donna Mae "Dolly" Lis, age 77, of 104 Soderburg Drive, Thorp, WI passed away on June 23, 2009, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley, WI.  Private graveside services were held on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Huron, Town of Colburn.  Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family.

 

Donna Mae "Dolly" Lis was born on May 30, 1932, in NE Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Andrew & Cecelia (O’Connor) Malark, the eighth of twelve children.  She grew up there and attended St. Anthony School.  She was later married to Bruno "Danny" Lis and they lived and farmed in the Town of Colburn until 1974 when they purchased the ‘Fox’s Den" Tavern in the Town of Taft which she operated for over 30 years until retirement.  She so enjoyed her many customers, which became her family and friends.

 

She is survived by two daughters: Shirley (Jim) Cox & Gloria (Greg) Steivang both of Stanley, WI; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; also by her three brothers: Richard (Audrey) Malark, Raymond (Margaret) Malark and Kenneth (Lori) Malark; one sister, Margaret (Tom) Strauss; and a sister-in-law, Betty Malark, all of NE Minneapolis, MN; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Danny, in 2001; one grandson, Billy Cox; brothers: John, Robert, James & George; and sisters: Mary Ellen, Caroline, and Anna Rose.  Dolly will be sadly missed by family and friends.
