Thompson, Evonne Rose (Marriage - 13 Oct. 1951)

Miss Evonne Rose Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Thompson, and Walter John Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Miller, all of Abbotsford, exchanged marriage vows in a double ring ceremony performed Christ Lutheran church, Saturday afternoon, Oct. 13, at 2:00 o’clock. The Rev. F. H. Sprengler read the service before the altar adorned with palms and bouquets of rust, green and yellow mums.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length gown of white satin designed with an off the shoulder yoke, outlined with a tulle ruffle and high neck line. Her finger tip veil fell from a Juliet cap ornamented with seed pearls and a tulle ruffle. She carried a bouquet of rhubrum lilies, tied with a wide satin bow and two streamers, tipped with a lily.

Miss Rowene Schaefer, classmate of the bride, was maid of honor and Miss Donna Miller, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. Their gowns were styled identically in green and gold, respectively, of taffeta, with strapless bodices and ballerina length skirts on which brocaded flowers were appliquéd. They wore matching stoles of net and carried bouquets of assorted mums in rust, green, and yellow.

Robert Mueller, the groom’s uncle, as best man, and Harley Thompson, of Milwaukee, brother of the bride, attended the groom.

Mrs. Thompson, mother of the bride, wore a maroon dress with pink trim and Mrs. Miller, mother of the groom, wore a plum colored dress. Both mothers had corsages of mixed mums. Mrs. John Mueller, grand mother of the groom, chose navy blue and had a corsage of white carnations. They all had black accessories. Mrs. Louis Miller, of Eau Claire, also grand mother of the groom, was unable to attend the wedding as she is in the hospital.

During the ceremony, Herbert Juneau played the organ and sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "Because."

Following the ceremony a reception attended by about 100 guests, was held at the church dining rooms. Centering the bride’s table was a large cake topped by a plastic church with a bridal couple and two attending couples descending the tiers of the cake. In the evening a wedding dance was held at the Colby Park pavilion.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller left on a honeymoon trip to Bayfield and Madeline Island. They will make their home, for the present, with the bride’s parents. The groom is employed on a surveying project, being conducted in and around Abbotsford, Wis.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of the Abbotsford high school, class of 1949.

Out of town guests at the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Harley Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Priebe, Sr., and daughter, Carol, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Priebe, Jr., Otto Priebe, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jantz, and Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Walters and son, Bob, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Forest Thompson, Miss Carol Thompson, Miss Marie Thompson, and Mrs. Geralda Larson and daughter, Deon, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Stelzel, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Patrie and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. W.
