Brueske, Arthur D. (30 July 1927 - 1 July 2009)

 

Arthur D. Brueske, 81, of La Crosse died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1927, in Greenwood, Wis., to Arthur G. and Stella Mae (Sinclair) Brueske and graduated from La Crosse Central High School. He then served overseas in the United States Navy during World War II. Arthur returned to La Crosse following the war and married June R. Meier. The family then moved to Orange County, Calif., where he worked as a union journeyman sheet metal worker for many years. In 1991, Arthur and June returned to the La Crosse area.

 

Arthur was a member of Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post 52 in La Crosse, and loved to work in his apple orchard.

 

In addition to his wife June, he is survived by his children, Terry (Sue) Brueske of Orange County, Debra Brueske of California, Larry (Pearly) Brueske of Onalaska, and David (Tammy ) Brueske of Seattle: several grandchildren; and a sister, Dianne (John) Smevog of Corona, Calif.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse, with military rites to follow.
