Walters, Betty Jane (Marriage - 9 Sept. 1950)

Harley Thompson, Milwaukee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Thompson, Abbotsford, took Miss Betty Jane Walters, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Walters, Milwaukee, as his bride Saturday afternoon, Sept. 9 at 3:00 o’clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Rev. Schultz read the double ring service.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white satin gown styled with a long train edged in scalloped lace, long sleeves and high neck line with a Peter Pan collar, trimmed with pearl leaves. The same motif was also used to trim the bonnet shaped head piece that held her finger tip veil. She carried a colonial bouquet of white gladioli centered with a white orchid.

The bride’s attendants had frocks made alike in lace over taffeta, and carried bouquets of yellow roses and white pompons and wore yellow and white flowers in their hair. The maid of honor and matron of honor wore yellow lace over green taffeta and the two bridesmaids, one of whom was Miss Evonne Thompson, sister of the groom, was junior bridesmaid and wore yellow lace over green taffeta.

Walter Miller, Abbotsford, was one of the four men attending the groom.

The mother of the bride wore a dress of cocoa lace over pink and brown accessories. The mother of the groom wore a two piece teal suit with black velvet accessories. Both mothers had an orchid in their corsage.

Dinner for 58 guests was served at 5:30 at the Villard Club and a reception and dance, attended by 350 guests was held in the evening at Pilgrim Hall.

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson left on a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and after a week will be at home in Milwaukee where he is employed as a lithographer. Before her marriage the bride was employed as a secretary in a bank.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Thompson and family and Walter Miller, Abbotsford, attended the wedding.
