Wiltjer, Lucille (Marriage - 14 Aug. 1948)

 

Miss Lucille Wiltjer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wiltjer, and Eugene Steinke, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Steinke, of Curtiss, exchanged marriage vows, Saturday afternoon at the Evangelical Lutheran church. The Rev. G. E. Borreson read the double ring service at 2:00 o’clock, before an altar decorated with ferns and phlox.

 

During the ceremony, Gordon Leonhardt sang "Perfect Love," and "The Lord’s Prayer."

 

The bride wore a gown of white satin in brocade in a princess style, with elbow length sleeves. A heart shaped tiara of seed pearls and silver beads held her finger tip veil, and she carried a heart shaped arrangement of white and red roses.

 

Attending the bride were three of her sisters, dressed in identically styled princess chiffon frocks. Miss Jeanette Wiltjer, Abbotsford, the maid of honor, and Mrs. Earl Shepard, wore blue. Mrs. James Rauchau, of Highland, Indiana, wore fuschia. They all wore heart shaped hats, the maid of honor’s was blue to match her frock, and the bridesmaids’ were white. Red roses and white carnations were combined for their colonial bouquets.

 

Attending the groom were his brother, Oakley Steinke, Neil Sheets and John Sheets. Those acting ushers were William Wiltjer, brother of the bride, and Dale Steinke, cousin of the groom.

 

Following the ceremony a reception attended by 125 guests, was held at the home of the bride’s parents. A three tier wedding cake was the centerpiece for the bridal table and flowers, white wedding bells and streamers decorated the home.

 

After their wedding trip to Chicago and Highland, Indiana, Mr. and Mrs. Steinke will be at home in Abbotsford and will live in the Jack Weideman house.

 

The groom is employed at the Laabs Cheese Factory at Curtiss and Mrs. Steinke is employed at Danielson Dry Cleaners, at Abbotsford, Wis.

 

Among the relatives from away who attended the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Hiese and son, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Strand, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kastmer, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Kastmer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Siltzberger and son, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Patz and son, Mrs. Jake Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ja Baay, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Freehaup, Mr. and Mrs. John Moan, South Holland, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Postma, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ritsemer and two children, Mr. and Mrs. James Rachau and son, Highland, Indiana; Mr. and Mrs. Tunis Ooms and two children, Lansing, Ill.; Mrs. Rudyard Klemme, and Elwood Nielson, Crete, Illinois.
