Rittenhouse, Pearl M. (19 Mar. 1914 - 1 June 2009)

 

OWEN -- Pearl M. Rittenhouse, 95, of Owen, died peacefully, late Monday evening June 1, 2009, under the tender care of the staff at the Clark County Health Care Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, 2009, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Withee. The Rev Tom Myhre will officiate. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Withee.

A time of visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at St. John's Lutheran Church on Saturday. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Owen is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Rittenhouse was born March 19, 1914, in Owen, a daughter of Arthur and Ida (Hanke) Schwenke. She graduated from Owen High School and attended College in Valparaiso, Ind.

The former Pearl Schwenke was united in marriage to John Duane Rittenhouse on Aug. 25, 1941, in Minnesota.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Pearl was employed at the Amacher Hardware Store in Abbotsford and also worked beside her husband John as a bookkeeper for Rittenhouse Plumbing and Heating from 1944-76. Pearl then served as librarian at the Owen Library for many years.

Mrs. Rittenhouse was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Withee.

Pearl enjoyed fishing and spending time at the cottage on Soo Lake in Phillips, as well as playing bridge with the Penney Bridge Club.
