Seefeld, Arlene (Marriage - 30 Aug. 1947)

Miss Arlene E. Seefeld, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Seefeld, Spencer, and Eugene J. Marten, Riplinger, son of Mrs. Arthur Steele, Abbotsford, repeated their marriage vows before the Rev. A. C. Stapel, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church, Spencer, at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

During the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Seefeld sang, "Near to the Heart of God."

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was gowned in white satin, fashioned with lace inserts, a sweetheart neckline, long sleeves and a long train. Her long veil, trimmed with lace, was held by a seed pearl tiara. She wore a double strand of pearls and carried a bouquet of red roses.

The maid of honor, Miss Margie Hoftiezer, wore a rose-colored dress and a pink bonnet. She carried a bouquet of pink roses. The bridesmaids, Miss Lois Freeman and Miss Shirley Wry, Spencer, wore white and aqua dresses, respectively, and matching bonnets. They carried bouquets of pink roses. The bride’s niece, Phyllis Seefeld, Spencer, was flower girl. She wore a pink taffeta dress and carried a basket of assorted flowers.

The groom was attended by Virgil Seefeld, Spencer, as best man; Kenneth Mellenthin, Spencer, cousin of the bride, and Dewaine Marten, Riplinger, brother of the groom, as groomsmen; Glen Seefeld, Spencer, nephew of the bride, as ring bearer. Donald Neuman and James Beisner, Spencer, the latter a cousin of the bride, acted as ushers.

After the ceremony supper at 5:30 was served to about 125 guests at the church parlors, after which a reception was held at the Albert Seefeld home. The wedding dance was given at Riplinger hall.

Mr. and Mrs. Marten left on a wedding trip to Kenosha and northern Michigan and Wisconsin. They will make their home at Riplinger where Mr. Marten is employed as cheese maker at the Riplinger Dairy.

Among those from here who attended the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Steele, Miss Lorraine Marten, Billy Marten and Raymond Kops.
