Smith, Helen K. (Lew) (29 MAR 1927 - 19 OCT 2013)

Helen K. Smith, age 86, of Eau Claire (formerly of Lublin), passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Dove Healthcare in Eau Claire.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 10:30am at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Jeff Williams, Taylor Williams, Mark Abramowicz, Mark Modl, Dave Kasper, and Bryce Kasper. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, from 9:30am until time of service at the church.

Helen Katherine Lew was born on March 29, 1927 in Thorp, WI to John and Katherine (Tyznik) Lew. She was raised on the family farm and was educated at area schools. After completing her education, Helen moved to Chicago, IL where she worked for Motorola in the wiring department. While in Chicago, she was united in marriage to Roy F. Smith on August 1, 1959.

Helen also worked for several other employers before returning to the Lublin area to raise her family. After Roy's death in March 2010, Helen moved to Eau Claire to be closer to her daughter and resided there until her death.

Helen had many interests, but especially enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking, and crafting. But, her most precious time spent, was with her grandson Taylor. She was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church and its' Ladies Aid.

She is survived by her daughter: Nancy (Jeff) Williams of Elk Mound; 1 grandson: Taylor Williams of Elk Mound; 1 brother: Stanley Lew of Gilman; 2 sisters-in-law: Belle Lew of Lublin and Celeste Lew of Cheyenne, WY; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy, and 5 brothers: Walter Lew, Mike Lew, Frank Lew, John Lew, and Henry Lew.
