Umlauft, Frank E. (May 2, 1915 - May 23, 2009)

 

Frank E. Umlauft age 94, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Memorial Health Center in Medford.

 

Frank was born on May 2, 1915 to Rudolph and Anna (Pueschner) Umlauft in the town of Holton, Marathon County.

 

He attended the Draper School in the Town of Holton and St. Louis Catholic School for two years. Frank worked on the farm of his parents until he was eighteen. Then he worked for Dorchester coop for six years, also worked in a logging camp in 1926 at Monico, Wisconsin for one winter.

 

He married the love of his life Esther Kloth on November 21, 1939. She was the daughter of Herman and Elsie Kloth.

 

In 1940, Frank became manager of Dorchester Coop as the current manager was called to serve in World War II. Frank and Esther bought a farm in 1942 and farmed for 37 years until 1978. Frank was North Supervisor of Town of Holton for six years; chairman for four years; Dorchester coop board for six years; AMPI board in Abbotsford for six years. Frank was a life time member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, Wis. They retired and moved to Dorchester at age 62, and lived there for 25 years. In 2003, Frank and Esther moved close to daughter Julie in town of Mayville until time of death.

 

Frank is lovingly survived by his wife, Esther Umlauft of Dochester and their children, Diane (John) Hoeper of Rothschild, Louella (Lloyd) Luedtke of Schofield, Lois (Ronald) Waldhart of Medford, Rodney (Mary) Umlauft of Stetsonville, Renee (Bob) McNamar of Medford, Julie (Steve) Lapp of Dorchester, and a daughter in law, Delores Umlauft of Sherwood. He is further survived by two sisters, Ruth Juedes of Dorchester and Marcella Oehler of Campbellsport. He will be missed by 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Duane Umlauft; a daughter, Mary Ann Umlauft; a grandson, Daniel Umlauft; his parents, Rudolph and Anna Umlauft; two sisters, Helen Riegert, and Lorainne Laski; and two brothers, Henry and Irving Umlauft.

 

Visitation will be at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford on Tuesday, May 26, from 4-8 PM with a vigil service at 7:30 PM. Further visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at St. Louis Catholic Church from 10 AM until the time of service. A funeral mass will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, May 27 at St. Louis Catholic Church.

 

Father Benjamin Franklin will preside. Serving as his pallbearers will be his grandsons, Darin Umlauft, Dean Umlauft, Brian Luedtke, Todd Luedtke, Kevin Waldhart, Ryan Umlauft, Adam Umlauft, Jordon Umlauft, Brandon Lapp and Doug Hoeper.

Burial will follow the service at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
