Lato, Amelia (6 SEP 1952)

On Sept. 6, 1952, in St. Peter and Paul Church in Gilman, Wis., was the scene of the wedding of Miss Amelia Lato, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lato of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Peter Haider, son of Mrs. Tillie Haider of Minneapolis. Father Dzurko officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Approaching the alter on the arm of her father, the bride wore a gown of white satin with a net yoke and long sleeves that ended in points over her wrists. The full skirt was trimmed with lace in an apron like effect in front with a full length train. She wore a gold cross, a gift from the groom. Her veil was a skull cap trimmed with pearls. She carried a white orchid on a satin covered prayer book trimmed with baby orchids.

Preceding the bride down the aisle were Tillie Haider, sister of the groom, as maid of honor, and Angeline Rogus, Amy Grabowski, Martha Dzubak and Katie Tabaka as bridesmaids. They wore royal blue ballerina dresses with velvet jackets and net veiling as headdresses. Each carried a ballerina bouquet of pink roses and white gladiolas.

The bride’s uncle, Anton Rogus, served as best man. Walter Lato, John Dzubak, Geroge Zurbey, and Harry Sarich were ushers. The guests were ushered to their places in church by Edward Lato and Al Haider.

Mrs. Lato was present at her daughters’ wedding in a navy blue nylon dress with navy accessories. The groom’s mother selected a royal blue costume suit with black accessories. Each wore a corsage of white mums and pink roses.

The reception was held at the P.N.A. Hall in Thorp, Wis. After the reception, the newlyweds left for the North Shore, where they spent their honeymoon.
