Neillsville

Lawrence University Base Ball Team came to us last week with a record unexcelled by defeat and with an air of confidence that might startle a less fearless team than ours. But they went away confident that they had been in a game and less confident in themselves. They had beaten Manitowoc, Oshkosh and several other of the best teams in the state. The first game on Friday was a victory for Neillsville with a score of 16 to 0. Cook was in the box and Baerwald behind the bat. the boys feeling sorry for their visitors put Higgins in the box and took two good fellows out and replaced them with school boys. This brought the score 11 to 9 in Neillsville's favor.

Harry Cook, the crack pitcher and Baerwald, the never failing catcher, have been hired for the season to play with Neillsville, with this battery and their excellent support they need not fear defeat.

Dr. T. F. Conroy purchased Will Marsh's house last week, consideration $3,000.

Ted McNamara and W. C. Taplin spend Sunday at Eau Claire.

The O'Neil House has just finished repairing their barn.
