One of the most pleasing surprises of the year was the news of the marriage of Miss Martha E. Keenan to Mr. Guy B. Maines, which gained circulation last Monday afternoon. While the proverbial ‘little bird" had taken the usual part in the joyful work of Dan Cupid, the unceremonious announcements: "Go to town children and get your treat," and "the cigars are at Morgan’s," brought the town "to its feet."

The happy union of town of Mackay’s (Idaho) prominent and valued citizens was decidedly out of the ordinary and brought forth spontaneous and heart universal congratulations to the parties concerned. The wedding took place in the cozy little home of the bride on Saturday evening, Jan. 18th, 1908, at 9:15. Rev. Thos. Johns, pastor of the Methodist Church performing the ceremony. Miss Julia D. Falls and William T. Brennan acting as attendants, with Miss Kelleher, constituted the gathering. The affair was kept secret until last Monday afternoon, when the groom, who was leaving for Salt Lake on urgent business affairs, told a few friends, and at about the same time our bride was telling the pupils of …(the rest of my copy was cut off)
