Eilert, Louis #3 (5 APR 1881 - 29 OCT 1907)

On Tuesday morning, Oct. 29, 1907, Louis J. Eilert passed away at his home at the Woodland Hotel at Owen after a very brief illness. The remains were brought to this city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) and services were held Sunday afternoon, Rev. T. Graston Owen of Whitehall officiating.

Louis J. Eilert was born in this city April 5, 181. He received his early education in the city schools, later going to Fresno, Calif., where he became associated with his father and brother in a large brewery. On Sept. 24, 1903 he was united in marriage to Miss Lucy Jewell. About a year ago Mr. Eilert returned to Neillsville, and in June he removed to Owen and became associated with Devere Barton in the implement business. Besides his wife, there remain to mourn his demise his aged mother and brother, William, and sisters, Mrs. Huntzicker and Miss Leda Eilert, all of Fresno, Calif.; ; and sisters, Mrs. Kurt Listeman of this city and Mrs. R. L. Meader of Eau Claire. His mother and brother and sister, Mrs. Meader, came to be present for the funeral.

Louis Eilert was a young man of the very highest integrity and no man needed more than his word, for he was honorable and conscientious in all his dealings. He was liberal and free-hearted to a fault, for he would deprive himself of many pleasures to be of assistance to his friends, and such a friend as Louis Eilert is seldom found. He had his few faults, we all have, but they were so overshadowed by his kindly and loving disposition his magnamity and his charity, that he leaves only a memory of goodness and kindness.
