Pettit, Agnes Frances (11 February 1919 - 11 April 2009)

Agnes Pettit, 90, of Neillsville died Saturday, April 11, 2009, in the Emergency Room of the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville.

Agnes Frances Pettit was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Valley County, NE, the daughter of William and Josephine (Giziniski) Deleski. They moved to South Dakota in 1928, and Agnes attended school there. She was united in marriage to Norbert J. Pettit Dec. 26, 1936. They farmed in South Dakota and then moved to Neillsville in 1952 and farmed just south of the Reed School. They retired in 1970 and moved to Grand Avenue in Neillsville. Along with farming, Agnes also worked for 18 years at Sunburst Youth Homes.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Helena’s Circle. Her hobbies included gardening, reading and crocheting.

She is survived by one daughter, Maureen (Wayne) Meier of Neillsville; three sons, Dave (Linda) Pettit of Morton, IL, John (Janie) Pettit of Neillsville and James Pettit of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren, Debbie (Mike) Schoengarth, Sharon (Robert) Wilsman, Steven Meier, Gary (Linda) Pettit, Angie (Mike) Vetch, Wade (Brenda) Pettit, Carmen (Mike) Stiglich, Jason (Cindy) Pettit, Erick (Amanda) Pettit; 18 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Agnes is also survived by a brother, Donald Deleski of Garden City, ID, and two sisters-in-law, Inamae Deleski of Twin Falls, ID, and Edith Neyens of Chadron, NE.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert, and a grandson, Mark Pettit.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Celebrant will be Fr. Woodrow H. Pace. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, Organist, Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist, and St. Mary’s Choir. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
