Lavine, Adolph #3 (3 FEB 1886 - 26 JUL 1951)

Funeral services for Adolph Carl Lavine, whose death occurred at the Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, July 26th, 1951, were held at 1:30 p.m. July 31 from the Nogle Funeral Home in Chippewa Falls with interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery (actually Riverside) at Owen, beside his son Kenneth. Rev. C. M. Schendel officiated.

Mr. Lavine was born in Halmstad Sweden, Feb. 3rd, 1886, and immigrated with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lavine, arriving in Merrill, July 20, 1889. He received his grammar school education in Merrill.

After completing a course in telegraphy, he entered the employ of the Soo Line Railway Co. in January 1909, serving only fifteen days as operator, when promoted to Depot Agent. He was employed as Depot Agent at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) at the time of his death, having been located in Owen serving in this capacity for over thirty years. He had served continuously for the Soo Line for forty-two and a half years. He was also the Express Agent at Owen for over thirty years. Among the cities served by Mr. Lavine as depot agent and auditor were Somerset, Gilman, Stanley, Thorp, Iron Belt and Albertaville.

On May 28, 1912, he was united in marriage to Miss Laura Stadler, at Lublin, who survives as do three children: Gerald of Madison, Mrs. Robert (Evelyn) Kuehnast and Melvin of Chippewa Falls. Two sisters survive, Mrs. Frank (Esther) Wrzosek and Mrs. John (Helga) Roeland of Merrill. Eight grandchildren and other relatives and a host of friends mourn his loss. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and three brothers, Elmer, John and Hugh.

Mr. Lavine was a member of the Blue Lodge F. & A.M. of Owen, and of the Order of Railway Telegraphers.
