Neitzel, Catherine (25 Nov. 1864 - 24 Apr. 1945)

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Neitzel, 80 years old, who died Tuesday, April 24 at Neillsville, were held Friday afternoon at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) at Owen. Internment was made in the Norwegian cemetery at Curtiss.

The pallbearers were Lawrence Klein, Edward Hoffman, Clarence Stevens, Charles Lehman, Elmer Voightlander and Frank Smith, former neighbors of the deceased.

Mrs. Neitzel was born Nov. 25, 1864 at Farmington, Jefferson county. On Jan. 15, 1889, was united in marriage to William Neitzel, Curtiss. For four or five years they lived in Prentice and Rhinelander, where Mr. Neitzel worked in the lumber mills. They then moved to their farm in the town of Hoard where they lived until they retired in 1920 and moved to the village of Curtiss.

After Mr. Neitzel’s death in 1933 Mrs. Neitzel made her home with her children.

She had been in failing health the past two years, but only seriously ill a few days before her death.

Surviving are a five children, all of whom were here for the funeral: Mrs. Ralph (Alma) Green, Bluffton, Indiana; Laura, Mrs. Otto (Laura) Bublitz, Owen; Mrs. Albert (Myra) Kuehling, Neillsville; Mrs. Harold (Mabel) Hanson, Park Falls; one son, Lawrence, of Abbotsford, Wis. A son, Emery, was killed in a railroad crossing accident on April 1, 1943.

Among other relatives besides the children attending the funeral were Ralph Green, Mrs. Al Goldamer and son, Mrs. Alfred Mittelstadt and two children, Bluffton, Indiana; Miss Shirley Green, Lake Mills; and Miss June Hanson, Chicago.
