Kurtzweg, Albert (9 August 1871 - 18 November 1951)

Albert Kurtzweg, age 80, died on Sunday afternoon at the Lutheran hospital at Eau Claire after an illness of five weeks. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday at two o’clock form the Georgas Funeral Home. The Masonic Lodges of Medford and Neillsville conducted the services. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Kurtzweg was born on August 9, 1871, at Alma, Wis. He received his education at Alma and worked for a logging company. He was employed for 20 years as an engineer for the railroad at Westboro.

In 1900 he was married to Edna Fessenden at Neillsville. They moved to Levis in 1914 where he farmed until the death of his wife. He then made his home with his son Clifford, at Fairchild until 1949 when they moved to Billings, Mont. he returned to Wisconsin about five weeks ago.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 217 at Medford.

He is survived by four children, Rodger Kurtzweg, of Lake Delton, Edward Kurtzweg of Fairchild, Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) Andrews of Seward, Alaska, and Clifford Kurtzweg of Billings, Mont., also 10 grandchildren and one brother, August of Alma.

His wife, two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday for Albert Kurtzweg who died at an Eau Claire hospital on November 18. The services were held at two o’clock at the Georgas Funeral home with interment in the city cemetery. The Masonic rites were in charge of A. L. Devos of the local lodge and Edgar Oleson of the Medford Masonic Lodge.

Pallbearers were: M. Kretschmer, John Michael, Rudolph Spindler, George Stephenson, Edgar J. Oleson and Oluf Olson.

Persons from out of town attending the rites included Mr. and Mrs. Gust Kurtzweg and Harvey Kurtzweg of Alma, Rodger Kurtzweg of Lake Delton, M. Kretschmer, (balance of obit cut off).
