Hemberger, Edwin (21 Jan. 1876 - 31 July 1944)

Funeral services for Edwin Hemberger, 68, who died Monday morning, were held this afternoon. The body which had been lying in state at the Zink Funeral Home, was taken to the Presbyterian church where services were conducted at 2:00 o’clock by the Rev. George Griffiths. Internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

The pallbearers were Gust J. Hintz, E. F. Kuehnast, Theodore Lenz, John Schefsick, August Wiedeman and Ernest Laper.

The flowers were carried by grand daughters of Mr. Hemberger: Miss Marian Handle and the Misses Margie, Ruth, Phyllis, Annabelle and Ardis Waldhart and Mrs. Galen Waldhart.

Edwin Hemberger was born in the town of Franklin, Sauk County, Jan. 21, 1876. He was united in marriage to Miss Martha Jahnke on Nov. 24, 1898 at North Freedom. For the first two years of their married life they farmed at Arpin. For the past 32 years they lived on their farm at Stetsonville. Due to ill health, Mr. Hemberger was unable to do the heavy work of farming and he and Mrs. Hemberger moved to Abbotsford two years ago.

Mr. Hemberger has been seriously ill the past three months and death came at 4:45 Monday morning.

He is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Chris (Tillie) Waldhart, Mrs. Otto (Helen) Handle, of Stetsonville, and Mrs. Ernest (Mildred) Waldhart, of Spencer. There are 14 grand children, three of whom are in the service, and one great grand child.
