Rueden, Olivia (Marriage - 16 Oct. 1943)

Miss Olivia Rueden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Rueden, of Dorchester, exchanged wedding vows with Vernon Westphal, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Westphal, of Abbotsford, in a wedding ceremony performed in the Evangelical Lutheran church at Milan, Oct. 16, at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Emanuel Malueg officiated.

The bride wore a white satin gown, princess style, made with a shirred bodice and yoke with inserts of Alencon lace extending from the shoulders to the end of the long train, bordered with matching lace. A long lace-edged veil completed her attire and she carried pink and white roses.

The groom’s sister, Miss Esther Westphal, in an aqua colored frock made with a taffeta bodice and full ninon skirt and wearing a matching headdress and blusher veil and corsage of pink pompons and white roses was maid of honor. Miss Marilyn Rueden, sister of the bride, in a similar dress of pink lace and ninon with a corsage of roses and pompons pinned to her shoulder, was bridesmaid.

Robert Rueden, brother of the bride, and James Buss, of Abbotsford, attended the groom.

A reception and supper for 75 guests followed the ceremony and that evening a dance was held at the Jerkwater hall. Misses Marion Stelzel, Margaret ? and Shirley Olson waited on tables at the supper.

The young married couple is now at home to friends on the groom’s farm near Abbotsford, Wis.
