The Warren Methodist Church in Washburn was the scene of a candlelight wedding on Saturday, Oct. 6, when Miss Lew Ellyn Marie Sytsma, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Sytsma, became the bride of James J. Gray, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Justin Gray of Colby, Wis.

The Rev. Donald Frank performed the double-ring ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Baskets of white chrysanthemums graced the chancel and white and bronze chrysanthemums were arranged at the entrance to the chancel.

Mrs. Paul Raarup, the organist, presented a program of traditional nuptial music and accompanied the soloist as she sang "The Wedding Prayer" and "Entreat Me Not To Leave Thee."

The simple princess line gown was designed with a crescent neckline enriched with a passementerie and crystal beading. Self cording defined the the empire bodice and the bell skirt, sweeping back to a cathedral train, was highlighted at the back waistline with an obi bow.

Her shoulder-length veil of silk illusion was draped to a crown of seed pearls and her cascade bouquet was of white chrysanthemums with streamers.

Miss Phyllis Peace was maid of honor and Miss Judith Moe was the bridesmaid. Their identical dresses of moss green satin featured scoop necklines. Their matching pillbox head adornments held short veils and they carried baskets of autumn flowers and fruit.

The bride’s twin sisters, Wanda and Wendy Sytsma, the junior bridesmaids, wore dresses of gold satin fashioned with scoop necklines and full skirts with wide sashes which formed soft folds at the back. Short veils were draped from their pillbox caps and they carried wicker baskets of autumn flowers and fruit.

The best man was Donald Ludwig and James Knabe was the groomsman.

Ushering duties were performed by Peter Sytsma and Dennis Kalmon.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church parlors with the members of the Woman’s Society in charge of arrangements.
