Washburn (20 May 1971)

The famers have been taking advantage of our nice weather, getting their corn planted. Most of it seems to be planted by now.

The Busy-Three 4-H club had a roller skating party at Hatfield Sunday afternoon. They enjoyed a picnic supper after the skating.

Mrs. Frank Short returned home Saturday from Milwaukee where she had spent a week with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Louie Matousek, and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Short and family. Mr. and Mrs. Matousek brought her home Saturday and they came by way of Gays Mills to see the apple orchards in full bloom. They also called on Mrs. William Groves and Mrs. Harry Florence in Viroqua.

Jack Geisler repaired he chimney on the Cannonville Church Saturday. Mr. Noah assisted him.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Stewart and son, Jeff, of Verona spent Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Galbreath visited Saturday at the Ernest Kissling home.

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Lincoln of Harvard, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lincoln, daughters, jean and Norma and son, Jerry, and Mrs. Art Odell visited Sunday at the Warren and Francis Lincoln home.

Sunday school was held at the Cannonville Church Sunday and will be held every Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Mr. and M s. Chester Turville and Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Bell visited at the Ted Kissling home Thursday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz and Lawrence Reinart spent several days last week at the Mrs. Henry Hubing, Wade Lepke and John and Clarence Reinart homes.

M r. and Mrs. William Rizner spent the weekend in Madison with her mother, Mrs. Elsbeth Wahlen.

Tony Palik and a friend of Plainfield spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Neil Meddaugh, and the Gordon Meddaugh family.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams and Mrs. Christ Feutz were in Marshfield Tuesday. Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Feutz, had checkups and treatment.

Mrs. Merle Austin called on Mrs. Art Odell Saturday.

Carrie Sexton has been quite ill with a throat infection or several days at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Harold Elmendorf.

Jerry Lincoln, a student in Milwaukee, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lincoln.

Mrs. Roy Carlson, who spent the winter with her daughter and family in Lincolnwood, Ill., came home a couple of weeks ago to spend the summer here. She will also visit her sister-in-law at Withee.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Thomson and family of Elmhurst, Ill., spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ragnar Mortenson, and brother and sister-in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mortenson.

Mrs. DeWayne Mashin and sons and Karen Dexter of Tomah spent Friday night and Saturday at the Oliver Williams home.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Vandeberg of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Vandeberg and sons of Wisconsin Rapids spent Saturday evening by going out for supper in honor of the birthdays of (Missing names here).
