Glasow, William, Sr. (1866? - 2 September 1951)

William Glasow, Sr., 85, of Lafayette, N. Y. passed away on Sept. 2. Funeral services were conducted on Sept. 5 by the Rev. Carl J. Ballweg with interment at Lafayette.

Mr. Glasow was born in Mecklenburg, Germany, and at the age of 17 he came to America with his parents. The family lived in New York State for about a year before moving to the city of Neillsville. In 1890 he was married to Augusta Youker and they moved to a farm in the Town of Weston where he farmed until 1920. He sold his farm and lived in St. Paul that winter and moved to Lafayette, N. Y., the following spring. Here he farmed with his son, William, Jr., until several years ago when he sold his farm and went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Robert Puttkamer.

He is survived by two sons, William Jr., of Yuma, Ariz., Lewis of Chicago, and one daughter, (Nora) Mrs. Robert Puttkamer, Lafayette, N. Y.; also five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one brother, Fred Glasow of Neillsville.

He was preceded in death by one son, Walter, who died in infancy and by his wife who passed away two years ago, Sept. 2, 1949.

While living on in the Town of Weston he took an active part in organizing a creamery, served on the school board, was an insurance agent and was a member of the Lutheran Church at Globe.
