Schmidtke, Bonnie Jean (Marriage - 18 September 1951)

Miss Bonnie Jean Schmidtke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Schmidtke, became the bride of Harvey J. Degenhardt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Degenhardt of Loyal at a nuptial ceremony performed at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at Loyal at 9 o’clock on Tuesday, September 18. The Rev. Norbert King officiated at the double ring ceremony.

Miss Schmidtke, who was given in marriage by her father, chose a gown of silk, net over satin. Her finger tip veil was caught to a headdress of pearls and orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of pink and white mums tied with silver and white ribbons.

Miss Darlene Degenhardt of Loyal, sister of the groom, acted as maid of honor and Miss Betty Fischer of Spencer, as bridesmaid. They were dressed in formals and carried bouquets of yellow and white mums, tied with yellow ribbons.

Alan Seidle of Stanley acted as best man and Arthur Gregory as groomsman. Duane Stutte of Loyal, cousin of the groom and Joe Kohlnhofer of Greenwood ushered.

A wedding breakfast was served at the home of the groom’s parents and a wedding reception for 50 guests was held at the Schmidtke home.

Both the bride and groom were graduated from the Loyal High School with the class of 1951.

The couple will reside in Loyal where the groom is employed at the Lakeshire-Marty Co.

Guests were present for the wedding from Granton, Loyal, Greenwood, Chili, Brooklyn and Sherwood.
