Brown, Mary (17 Jan. 1860 - 19 Sept. 1941)

Mrs. Mary Brown died of complications at the County Hospital, Wausau, Friday, Sept. 19. She had been a patient there the past three years.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at nine o’clock in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church with the Rev. C. D. Brady officiating. Burial was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

The pallbearers were Fred Dietsche, C. T. Dolan, R. J. Janda, Frank Terrrio, William Nagel, and Charles Ziebarth.

Mrs. Brown was born Mary Murray in Ireland, Jan. 17, 1860. At the age of eight she came to America with her brother and they made their home at Waupun until the time of her marriage to William Brown in 1881. They came to the Town of Holton and farmed there until about 22 years ago when they sold the place and moved to Abbotsford, Wis.

Six children were born to them, five of whom survive. Mr. Brown preceded her in death on July 5, 1935 and one son, Lyman on Jan. 8, 1938.

After the death of her husband, Mrs. Brown continued to make her home in Abbotsford until three years ago when her health was such that she was taken to the hospital at Wausau where she died Friday at the age of 81 years.

She is survived by her five children, Mrs. John (Nellie) Dusik, Boyd; Mrs. Joe (Cora) Heida, Eau Claire; Edgar Brown, Unity; Mrs. Nedry Sterling and John Brown, Abbotsford, also 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

During her residence here Mrs. Brown was a member of St. Bernard’s congregation.

Among the relatives from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. John Dusik, Boyd; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Heida, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Brown and children, Unity, and John Brown.
