McConnell, Lucille M. (17 April 1912 - 11 March 2009)

Lucille M. McConnell, 96, of Greenwood, Wisconsin died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center Health & Rehab in Neillsville.

Lucille M. Prock was born April 17, 1912, in Globe, the daughter of Linus and Agnes (Quast) Prock. She was raised and educated in the Globe area and was a graduate of Neillsville High School. After high school, Lucille went to Milwaukee where she attended a beauty culture school. After completing beauty school, she returned to Clark County and opened a beauty shop in Greenwood.

Lucille was united in marriage Nov. 7, 1936, to James McConnell in the rectory of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. She continued to operate her beauty shop until 1952. She then went to work as a teacher’s aide at the Greenwood Elementary School until 1977 and then directed the Greenwood Nursery School until 1984. Her husband, James, died Aug. 30, 1992. Lucille continued living in Greenwood until entering Memorial Medical Center Health & Rehab in Neillsville.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Society, Royal Neighbors, the Woman’s Club, was the 1995 Greenwood Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year and was a hospice volunteer in the Greenwood area. Lucille had many interests, but especially enjoyed playing cards, painting and baking.

She is survived by three children, Sharon Mayenschein of Apache Junction, AZ, Terry (Linda) McConnell of Blair and Patrick (Sherry) McConnell of Neillsville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dolores McKenzie of Bettendorf, IA; and one son-in-law, Patrick Worth of Cedarburg.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; one daughter, Kathleen Worth; and one brother, Harold Prock.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood with visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Fr. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were her six grandsons, Mike Worth, Dan Worth, Brad Worth, Mark Mayenschein, Paul Mayenschein and Scott McConnell.
