The Gordon Davises at Golden Anniversary - East York - West Fremont - Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Davis celebrated their golden anniversary on Sunday, May 20, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Otto Schmidtke.

Their two sons and three daughters were here.

The tables were beautifully decorated with bouquets of yellow tulips, gold and white place cards and gold and white napkins with the honored couple’s names printed on them.

A dinner was served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Davis and son, Claire, of Chili, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Miller and son of Rockford, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Arleigh Davis and small daughter of Brooklyn, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Albert Hasz and Herman Hasz of Lynn, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Freedlund and family and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schwanebeck and family of Pittsville, Mr. and Mrs. Wellie Davis of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Drake and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Kissinger of Loyal and Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Holmes of Hancock.

A beautiful three-tiered wedding cake was made by Mrs. Otto Schmidtke.

The follow granddaughters wearing gold colored aprons waited upon the tables: Misses Lola, Bonnie and Luanne Schmidtke, Miss Nona and Joyce Schwanebeck, and Mrs. Albert Hasz.

Open house was held from two to five in the afternoon at the Schmidtke home and from seven to nine at the Davis home in Chili. Many friends and neighbors called to congratulate the honored couple.

Ice cream and cake waws served to all that called.

In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Davis were Chivaried (sp?), which climaxed the day’s events.

The only thing that kept the golden wedding celebration from being perfect was the fact that the Davis son-in-law, Otto Schmidtke was taken ill on Friday and was taken to the hospital. His doctor found that he has undulant fever.
