Johnson, Albert K. (1867 - 19 Mar. 1941)

Another pioneer of Abbotsford was taken in death, Wednesday when Albert K. Johnson was found dead in bed in his room at the Meyers Hotel.

Mr. Johnson retired Tuesday night apparently all right but when he failed to appear at breakfast it was found that he had died during the night.

Albert Johnson was born in Oconomowoc in 1867 on his father’s homestead, a tract of 40 acres which is now the main part of the city of Oconomowoc. At the age of two his parents brought him to this part of the country and settled on a farm in the Town of Mayville.

After Albert grew up he spent his winters in the woods and summers doing odd jobs around. For many years he helped at the Thompson Hotel, until it was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Jake Meyers. Then he moved to Daley’s garage and spent much of his time there until recently when he returned to the hotel.

His only surviving relative is one nephew, Martin Anderson.

The body will remain at the Zink Funeral Home until Saturday afternoon when funeral services will be conducted. Burial will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Funeral services for Albert K. Johnson, 73, who was found dead in bed Wednesday morning were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the Zink Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry Lee of Colby conducted the rites, which were followed by internment in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Pallbearers were Arvid Carlson, Axel Johnson, Martin Larson, Albert Nelson, Joe Moore and Jess Parkhill.

Mr. Johnson is survived by a niece, Mrs. Anna Brownell, Glendive, Mont., and a nephew, Martin Anderson, Abbotsford, Wis.
