Winkel, Carol Elizabeth (Marriage - 19 Aug. 1961)

Miss Carol Elizabeth Winkel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Winkel of Colby, and Roger Carl Carlson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carlson of Ogema, were married in Zion Lutheran church in Colby Saturday, Aug. 19, Rev. William Christian officiating.

The bride was given in marriage at the 2:00 o’clock ceremony by her father. Mrs. Maynard Bauer, accompanied by organist, Mrs. Lawrence Priem of Colby, sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "O Perfect Love." Baskets of mixed flowers graced the altar.

Miss Winkel, for her wedding, chose a full-length bridal gown featuring a lace bodice with scoop neckline and long sleeves coming to a point over the wrists and with a hoop skirt of tulle over taffeta with sequin-trimmed medallions scattered overall. Her crown of seed pearls secured a French illusion fingertip veil and her bouquet was made up of red roses, white carnations and stephanotis.

Attending the bride were Miss Mardell Winkel of Colby as maid of honor and Miss Darlene Theilig of Wausau, bridesmaid.

Miss Winkel wore a full-length strapless formal of lace featuring a short matching jacket and full hoop skirt of lace ruffles over taffeta with a satin cummerbund in blue. Miss Theilig wore a yellow dress in similar fashion and each carried an arrangement of blue and white, and yellow and white carnations.

Duane Barr of Skokie, Ill., was the best man in the wedding party with groomsman John Holubets of Marshfield. Carl Theilig of Colby and Sidney Bauer were ushers.

After the wedding a reception was held at the bride’s parents’ home and a supper was served in the city hall at Colby, Wis. The dance was at the Colby Sportsmen’s Park.

The bride graduated from the Colby High School in ’59 and has been employed at Otto’s Grill in Marshfield. Her husband is a 1957 graduate of Prentice High School and works at Blum’s Box Factory in Marshfield, where they will make their home at 702A W. 14th St., Marshfield.

Guests coming to the wedding came from Chicago, Ill., Medford, Colby, Owen, Chilton, Appleton, Ogema, Milwaukee and Marshfield.
