Vanderhyden, Barbara (14 NOV 1885 - 9 MAY 1951)

A requiem high mass was held Saturday morning at 9:00 o’clock at St. Bernard’s Church for Miss Barbara Vanderhyden, 65, who passed away at her home in this city (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) at 6:15 o’clock Wednesday evening. She had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at 3:30 p.m. that day. Father A. M. Muckerheide officiated at the services.

Barbara Vanderhyden, daughter of the late Gilbert and Johanna (VanAbel) Vanderhyden, was born in West Holland, Wis., on Nov. 14, 1885. She came to Thorp with her parents in Nov. 1899 and resided in the village until 1912 when the family moved to a farm in the Town of Thorp. She continued to live with her brother Harry on the farm after the death of her father, and last year they moved back to the city of Thorp to make her home.

She is survived by two brothers, Harry and Wilfred, and one sister, Mamie (Mrs. Jay Alger) of Thorp, besides five nieces and six nephews. One sister, Josephine, died in 1902. Her mother died in 1911 and her father in 1945.

Interment took place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Robert Haas, George Haas, Leo Dulek, Oscar Boie, Anton Baldeschwiler and John Maier.
