Sadie Blair named Student of the Quarter at Abbotsford High School

Abbotsford High School senior Sadie Blair has been named the Abbotsford Lions Club Student of the Quarter.

She is currently taking courses including trigonometry, physics, Spanish III, introduction to health occupations, economics, personal finances and novels.

After graduation Sadie plans to purse a career in radiography. She will attend NorthCentral Technical College in Wausau with a goal of completing her general studies and working at a hospital her first year and then obtaining an associate degree in radiography after two more years of coursework.

Math and science teacher Andres Brehm nominated Blair for he Student of the Quarter award.

"Sadie is a perfect example of an exceptional student and leader," Brehm said. "She is a hard worker who is determined to achieve the vision she has set for her future. She believed in Commitment , hard work and integrity. I fully endorse her as Student of the Quarter.

Her leadership skills are backed up for four years of commitment in the Student Senate and four years as a class officer. She also participates in Spanish Club, National Honor Society, FBLA, FFA, softball and volleyball. Sadie has sold fruit to support the FFA, has volunteered at middle school lock-ins and continues to change the school sign.

Sadie is very interested in serving her community. Activities she has been involved with include blood drives, adopt-a-highway, Abbotsford Lions Club brunches, annual June dairy breakfasts and the Abbotsford Christmas parade. She also volunteers for church functions, serving as lector, cleaning person and helper with CCD programs and summer Bible School. In addition she found time to hold summer jobs at Pamida and All-Metal Stamping.

Sadie believes the school is greatly supported by a dedicated staff and caring community.

"Because of this, students in the Abbotsford school system are given the best opportunity to learn," she said. "The teachers always encourage us to do our best. The recent passing of the school referendum shows how much the community supports and values education."

Sadie was asked to identify a world problem and offer a solution.

"I would confront the problem of poverty," she said. "It’s hard to imagine that her are people who don’t have food, water or shelter in a world with such great opportunities. I would like to see all people be able to provide for their families and live in a healthy environment."

Sadie is the daughter of Doug and Sara Blair, Abbotsford, Wis.
