Mc Lees, Esther S. (Carlson) (30 MAR 1914 - 3 NOV 2013)

Former Medford resident Esther S. Mc Lees, 99, Abbotsford, died on Sunday, Nov. 3 at House of the Dove Hospice House in Marshfield, where she had resided the past four days.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, with Pastor Nancy Amacher officiating. Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery. Her grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Esther Carlson was born on March 30, 1914 in Westboro to the late John and Alvida (Olson) Carlson. She attended Westboro Grade School and Westboro High School.

On January 3, 1933 in Medford, she married Hilbert J. Mc Lees, who preceded her in death on March 9, 1990. She worked for Conan Doyle Studio in Medford. In 1954 they moved to the Town of Medford where they owned a mink ranch and later dairy farmed until retirement. She moved to Continental Manor Nursing Home in 2009.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Paul's Ladies Aid and Peace Maker's Quilting Group of St. Paul's. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, weaving, quilting, flowers and reading.

Survivors include two children, Delores (Don) Pernsteiner of Stratford and Herbert (Cheryl) Mc Lees of Cottage Grove, MN; seven grandchildren, Sandra Guldan, Debra (Joel) Kuenzli, Susan (Dennis) Bredemann, Brian (Cora) Mc Lees, Todd Mc Lees, Craig (Alicia) Mc Lees and Carrie (Mike) Kissner; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Mc Lees in infancy; a granddaughter, Karen Pernsteiner in 1993; two sisters, Beda Olson and Elsie Chute; and three brothers, Adolph, Arthur and Robert Carlson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
