Truckey, Alvin (8 MAR 1884 - 19 JAN 1951)

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. M. Muckerheide at St. Bernard’s Church here at 9:30 o’clock Tuesday morning for Alvin L. Truckey, who passed away at his home at Wittenberg, Wis., of a heart attack on Jan. 19, 1951. He had reached the age of 67 years, 10 months and 11 days.

Mr. Truckey was born at Garden City, Mich., on March 8, 1884. He spent much of his childhood in Green Bay, Wis., and on Oct. 17, 1905 was united in marriage to Mary Kaufman at Manitowoc, Wis. He came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) in the year 1907 and settled on a farm in the Town of Reseburg, where hr resided 32 years. Eleven years ago he retired from farming and moved with his wife to Wittenberg, where he lived until death.

Mr. Truckey was well known and respected in this community. He was active in civic affairs and served from 1934 to 1939 as chairman of the Town of Reseburg. He also served as trustee of St. Bernard’s Congregation for a number of years.

Surviving him besides his widow, are one son, Louis of Thorp, one daughter, Lucy, Mrs. Phil Beyer of Earlsville, Ill., one brother, Anton Truckey of Green Bay, one sister, Mrs. James Adams of Shingleton, Mich., two nieces, Mrs. Leonard Prefontaine, Green Bay and Mrs. Gunner Beck of Escanaba, Mich., one nephews, Alvin Adams, Manistique, Mich.

He was laid to rest in St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Pallbearers were George Maier, John Maier, Joe Haas, Robert Haas, Gilbert Voelker and Walter Verkuilen. Honorary pallbearers were George Haas, Joe Gengler, Richard Brunner and Anton Baldeschwiler.
