Huckstead, Ardith Annette (Marriage - 6 January 1951)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Neillsville was the scene of the marriage Saturday, January 6, of Miss Ardith Annette Huckstead, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Huckstead, to Charles Howard Murphy son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy of Ellsworth. Officiating at the 9:30 o’clock nuptial mass was the Rev. Fr. Georges P. Mathieu of Ellsworth.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a dress of white satin, fashioned with a fitted bodice and long sleeves coming to points at the wrists. The skirt extended into a full length train. Her finger tip veil fell from an orange blossom headdress. She carried a bridal bouquet of talisman roses.

Miss Mary Forthun, a friend of the bride, came from Spring Valley to act as maid of honor. She was dressed in a shrimp colored satin and taffeta gown and carried a bouquet of yellow and white mums.

Mrs. Earl Geizendanner of Baldwin, as bridesmaid, wore a dusty green satin and taffeta dress and carried a bouquet of yellow and white mums.

Burlin Murphy of Ellsworth, brother of the groom, acted as best man and Lowell Huckstead of Peoria, Ill., brother of the bride, was groomsman. Lloyd Yanisch of Ellsworth and Earl Geizendanner of Baldwin acted as ushers.

Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the Merchants Hotel for 22 guests. A wedding reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents for approximately 100 guests. The home was tastefully decorated with green and white streamers and cut flowers.

The bride was graduated from the Neillsville High School with the class of ’43 and from the University of Wisconsin with the class of ’47. For the past three years she has been engaged as home demonstration agent in Pierce County.

The groom is a graduate of Ellsworth high School with the class of ’41. He is a veteran of World War II and is now manager of Wiberg Federated store at Ellsworth. After a short honeymoon the young couple will be at home at Ellsworth.

Guests were present for the wedding from Red Wing, Minn., _____, Clintonville, Loyal, Beldenville, St. Paul, Minn., and many friends and relatives from Ellsworth.
