Weis, Elsie Frances (Marriage - 20 May 1961)

Miss Elsie Frances Weis, the daughter of Anton Weis of Spencer, Wisconsin, Route 1, and the late Artemis Friemund Weis, and Arvin Louis Dommer of Colby, Route 2, were united in marriage in Zion Lutheran church Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock.

Rev. William R. Christian officiated at the ceremony. Mrs. Lawrence Priem was organist and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Schulz sang "O Perfect Love" and "The Wedding Prayer." The church was decorated with bouquets of white and yellow gladioli and orchid pompons.

For her wedding the bride chose a floor-length dress of nylon organza styled with a Sabrina neckline and long sleeves. The full skirt had lace trim and sequins with a chapel train and bow at the back. Her fingertip veil of French illusion was held in place by a crown of crystals and pearls and she carried a cascade arrangement of red roses, white carnations and stephanotis.

Maid of honor in the wedding party was Miss Margaret Weis with bridesmaids, Miss Shirley Oehmichen and Mrs. Delphine C. Dommer, all of Colby, Wis. Their ballerina-length formals of yellow and orchid, respectively, had full skirts, short cap sleeves and shirred bodices with scoop necklines. They wore matching veil headpieces and carried cascade bouquets of white carnations and huckleberry foliage.

Karen and David Dommer of Colby were flower girl and ring bearer.

Herman Weis of Colby, Route 1, was the groom’s best man in the wedding party, and Delphin Dommer of Colby, Route 1, and Robert Wiersig, of Colby, Route 2, were groomsmen.

Rolland Freimund and Leonard Dommer ushered.

Wedding day events were a reception at the home of the groom followed by a supper in the church dining hall. The dance in the evening was at the Dorchester Memorial Hall.

The bride received her education in the town of McMillan schools and has been employed at the Ralph Oehmichen residence. The groom is a graduate of Colby High School. He is engaged in farming and the young couple will, once returning from a honeymoon in the Ozark Mountains, will reside on his farm at Colby, Route 2.
